An intense dance piece by Cuban Maura Morales celebrated its acclaimed premiere in the Kleines Haus of the Stadttheater.

[...] It begins cautiously, with an almost imperceptible twitching of the shoulder blades. Then the first groping movements follow, before the curled-up, only scantily veiled body straightens up. It is a kind of awakening of consciousness that dancer Maja Mirek shows to soft electric sounds. But in the following 55 minutes, this develops into an incredibly intense, energetic piece in which a total of four young women defend themselves with strength and elegance against a threatening outside world. It is the new piece by Cuban choreographer Maura Morales, which premiered under the title “My body a stranger that protects me that kills me” on Friday evening in the Kleines Haus of the Stadttheater and was enthusiastically received by the audience.

Maura Morales creates at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin
Another prestigious project is lined up for the coming months: Together with director Clemens Bechtel, Cooperativa Maura Morales will develop the piece Diner mit Alexander von Humboldt (AT) for the Humboldt Forum in Berlin. The piece for 3 dancers and 4 actors will premiere at the Humboldt Forum on 9 December 2021 and can be seen on the following dates: 10, 11, 17, 18, 19 and 20 December 2021.
“Efecto Mariposa” at EISFABRIK Hanover as part of the tanzOFFensive 2021
After a successful “In the theatre with a real audience” premiere at the LOT Theatre at the beginning of July and an open air performance at the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr, the current production “Efecto Mariposa” was shown last weekend at the Theater in der Eisfabrik as part of the tanzOFFensive 2021 in Hanover.
The Ballett Gesellschaft Hannover e.V. was on a visit and commented on the performance as follows:
