A 60 minute dance piece for 3 dancers and a live musician.
“Cherchez la femme!” – “Look for the woman!” This winged word marks women as the eternal trigger of trouble; as troublemakers of a world in order. At the same time, it calls for a search whose goal has long been known: the woman. But which one?
The women in the pictures of the U.S. photographer Francesca Woodman (1958-1981) are also repeatedly attributed a disquieting effect. Her work is the starting point and inspiration for Cooperativa Maura Morales’ latest in-house production, which most recently brought a much-praised contribution to the #MeToo debate to the stage with its play “Phobos.” With “Cherchez la femme”, Cuban-born Maura Morales now performs a dance search movement in Woodman’s footsteps, examines Francesca Woodman’s work and creates a visual world that is as disturbing as it is attractive, to the live-performed music of Michio Woirgardt.
